'Sainik Farm is an illegal settlement in New Delhi. A large tract of land was left in Delhi to maintain the greenery. However the rich and powerful bought tracts of land there ostensibly to farm but built huge mansions there' I hope the wikipedia page is fake.
I'm a student, I have friends all around Delhi and we usually meet up at CP or someplace to hack on things, once a month or so.
Do you plan to freely open up the place for people like us to just come, sit and talk/discuss/work? There's no point in paying here since we're not going to be permanent. A lot of us would just want space for 5 people to plug in laptops and leech wifi :-)
haha. yes guys, come on in! If you guys are going to be killing all my bandwidth then i might say no, but lets try it a few times and then decide. Let me know when so i can try and get some bean bags!
maybe you can add a cafe / garden cafe to your startup mansion and provide free wifi. Hopefully the costs of coffee and munchies will pay for the day visitors ;)
Yea thats far. Maybe we'll come up with a plan for people from further places to drop in a few times a week and price is accordingly. Drop in when you are this side Paras.
Got this mail sometime back regarding www.betahouse.in . Guess you can get yourself enrolled there for more visibility. Thumbs up to your initiative. I was trying to solve the problem of finding right co-founder & I believe such initiative could solve the problem.
1. Could you please give some background information about yourself? Do you have a startup as well? Do you own or have rented this place from someone else for your work or are you just spreading the word on someone else's behalf?
2. Are some people already working out of this place?
1. my blog should give out some info about me. harshbatra.com
Yes I have a startup as well.
My parents own the place. Since they moved to Goa its been lying vacant. I don't live there because its too big for me.
Thanks a lot for all the information and taking this initiative. Apart from being a good co-working place, it might help in connecting like minded people. (Even I'm looking for a co-founder.)
You can also think of allowing the place to be used for meetups like HSI or hackathons.
We recently had the HN Delhi meetup on 21st Nov. You can check the Google Group for more details. (I guess most of the folks on that list would also be on HSI). -
Essentially, you'll have to put in some efforts to host a meetup at your place. The tech community in NCR is pretty small and generally the participation is on the lower side.
you should also speak to Freeman of Jaaga.in ( co-working space for entrepreneurs, geeks, etc in Bangalore ) - I can connect you if you want. - But Jaaga is all free.
A suggestion - if you haven't already thought about it : I guess there will be people who will like to hangout there only on weekends (or some particular days only). You can have different payment plans for such people.
If the Mansion was in Mumbai I certainly would have started it there. :) Thanks Nischal. If you are in Delhi, you are welcome to come and hang out with the crowd.
Even if he is renting it to the capacity crowd (50 as he said), the normal one year rent would be enough to bootstrap even a manufacturing business I think.
